Why does wierd music suddenly pop up when I'm listening to music streams on the Internet?

Hi! I've noticed this problem over the past few days. Every few hours, my music stream competes with some wierd drum beats. I have to go back to my music site and click on "listen free" to stop it. I ran my AVG antivirus and my computer is clean. My operating system is Win98. My computer is defragged on a regular basis and my Disk Clean-up is run after each session online. What gives? I also don't click on any ads or banners that claim that I won a prize. I also don't open spam. Any ideas?

Windows 98 is not a good OS for the reason that many software programs directly interface with your hardware without needing to go through a HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). This can cause little glitches when a program isn't 100% compatible with the drivers of the hardware it is accessing.

If you are listening via a stream from the Internet, it might be the website is doing this. If you are doing it from a private network or from a program running music files, it is most likely the drivers aren't communicating properly with the program.

Best fix is to upgrade your OS to Windows XP. If this is too expensive for you (or your computer doesn't have the capability of running Windows XP), then you might have to learn to live with it.
