Should Antivisus & Antispyware be run simultaneously?

Recently someone from this forum said I should. I had asked for Antivirus recommendations, and the person that rec. AVG Free Edition said I should run together with antivirus, if I understood correctly. I dumped WinAntiVirus, and downloaded AVG, but it makes my system run slow, just like WinAntiVirus did.

Should Antivisus %26 Antispyware be run simultaneously?antivirus protection

Did you purchase the WinAntiVirus because of a popup on your computer said you was infected and needed this program to remove it? The popup mean you have a Vundo Trojan on your computer. WinAntiVirus is a Rogue program. The men that do this are now being sued in a Civil lawsuit and may face criminal charges.

You need to remove the Vundo Trojan.

The procedure should fix Vundo-based Winfixer(WinAntiSpyware, WinAntiVirus, Blackworm, Amaena)problems.

As far as what you need to protect your computer. You need:

1 Firewall program. Windows XP SP2 comes with a firewall that provides adaquate protection.

1 AntiVirus program (do not confuse Anitvirus with Antispyware, they are different type of programs).

3 Antispyware programs that provide full time protection (runs when your computer is on). Most free AS programs only provide on demand protection.

The AVG AntiVirus should not be confused with the AVG Antispyware program.
